SCUBA DIVER HAND SIGNALS
Scuba divers use hand signals to communicate underwater, however the signs can vary slightly between different dive training agencies. This is why it is good practice to agree on what the hand signals refer to, prior to making the dive. Divers using rebreathers or full-face masks can have a reasonable conversation by voice, but most conversations by recreational scuba divers, is by the hands and/or underwater writing slates. Introduced in basic scuba courses, signals and underwater communication skills are helpful to reduce confusion and anxiety while diving.
